When asked why he did that in a preseason game his response was.. “I got an 11 o’clock reservation I had to make,” Pierce said. “I didn’t want to stay any longer than I had to, you know what I’m saying? So… about two to three weeks ago the Saints K Garrett Hartley was apparently struggling with field goals. The Saints instantly got fed up when he missed the 29 yard field goal which was their last chance to win against the division rival Atlanta Falcons . Then they release a young wide receiver to sign  46 year old K John Carney. I dont know if you guys remember the miracle play a few years back… but yeah, they resign the dude that missed the extra point… hmm, who knows though maybe they saw something in him that no other team did.

But wait there’s more, the week Carney was signed he became the difference maker in the 16- 14 win over the Carolina panthers. Then this guy carney comes in and goes five for six in field goal but misses a 29 yarder in a losing effort against the Arizona Cardinal. Hold up! Wasn’t this the reason the Saints picked hum up in the first place. 5 outta 6 is 83%.. not too shabby. Aright, so now coach Payton goes on to talk about their running game, addressing the fact that they are ranked second to last in the league. So monday he stands behind his guys by saying “I felt a week ago that ladell played very well.. I thought chris ran hard.We’ll keep coaching them.These are our guys. There’s no one walking in here to save the day on the street right now.”

Long story short the Saints chuck the deuces to the old guy, K John Carney, and gave Julius Jones a chance. Sounds like they picked up another guy off the street to save the day yet again. But hey… you never know, Payton might still be right. Julius may not be the answer to their running problems, after all he has been only having six hundred yard rushing seasons the last two years. I am not gonna be the one to call payton a hypocrite but if JJ works out please ask me what i gotta say about that! Don’t make sense for both of us to be hypocrites right ?!

The QB carousel drama continues in Philly. Andy Reid is keeping a tight lip abou twho will be starting this upcoming Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons come to town. Vick of course would love to play against his former team but is still nursing injured ribs that he received from a big hit in last weeks game against the Redskins. Kolb has been taking all the snaps at practice so it seems like he will be starting but is that the right thing to do?
